Fuse Switching with the Voodoo Box and Android Head Unit

Fuses control everything on your car like fuel pumps, exhaust, lighting and so on. Now that can be controlled from your android head unit!

Introduction

This tutorial will teach you how to modify existing circuits on your car that are located in your car via switching a fuse on/off. An example in the Corvette C6, would be the NPP fuse that controls the exhaust flaps.

Prerequisites

  • Voodoo Box kit
  • Fuse Switch Harness
  • Android Head Unit

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Configure Box (optional)

When you first get your Voodoo Box, it will come unconfigured. If you'd like to add a port name to be recognized on your Andoid head unit, we will need to add a name to the port.

Plug In Voodoo Box

Plug Voodoo Box into a Windows computer via the USB port.

Open Voodoo Suite and Connect

After downloading and extracting the Voodoo Suite Software, open it and connect to your Voodoo Box.

Configure Voodoo Box from Voodoo Suite

Click on configure after you have connected in Voodoo Suite.

Rename the port on your Voodoo Box

On the desired port, set the new name of the device circuit.

Save the Configuration to your Voodoo Box

Save your configuration to the Voodoo Box, to be accessible by your android head unit.

Step 2: Install Voodoo Box and Fuse Harness

Lets go ahead, and install the Voodoo Box and Fuse Harness.

Tap Power for the Voodoo Box

Find a fuse we can bum off of, pull it and stick it into the available slot on the 6ft red fuse tap line provided. Make sure the fuse from that slot goes into the available slot on the fuse tap.

Ground the Fuse Harness to Chassis

The terminal loop on the black wire of the Fuse harness need to be grounded to the chassis.

Plug Fuse switch into desired fuse location

Plug the Fuse switch into desired fuse location where you want to turn power on/off. Remember to put the original fuse into the available fuse slot on the harness.

Run the wiring to the Voodoo Box

Plug the red power line to the (+) port, and the blue trigger wire from the fuse harness to (1) port on the voodoo box.

Plug Voodoo Box into OBD2 Port

Use the provided DB9 cable to connect the Voodoo Box to your cars OBD2 Port.

Use the provided USB cable to connect the Voodoo Box to your Andorid head unit via USB.

Step 3: Download And Install Android Software from Google Play

To use the Android software, we need to download it from the google play store.

After you download an install the Voodoo Mods app on your android, select the Voodoo Box.
